Oake and his late wife, Anne, started to share Bruce’s story. Despite stereotypes, anyone can develop an addiction regardless of where they live, their level of education, income, and family status. Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 of cardiac arrest. His death was caused by a combination of sedatives and propofol, which his doctor prescribed and administered to treat insomnia. Propofol is a general anesthetic used to cause relaxation and sleepiness for and during major surgeries.

  • I think when I emerged after hitting rock bottom, there was a jolt to the system that never went away.

The company’s never-ending 2-for-1 price “deal,” which goes against BBB standards because Lindell is manufacturing his own mikes recovery product and is therefore his own wholesaler. “Everyone thought it was political, which I still believe it is.” Over the last six years, Lindell estimates he’s spent $100 million on infomercials. He did not realize how physically dependent upon opioids his body had become until he became very sick from withdrawal after forgetting to bring his prescription on a vacation. From then on, he continued taking prescription opioids not to treat any pain, but to avoid feeling these withdrawal symptoms ever again. As his addiction progressed, he recalls completely losing sight of his goals and the things he once loved.

Mike’s redemption story was fueled by fitness, goal setting, purpose, perseverance, and deep introspection. On a mission to make something out of his life and “hustle” in a meaningful way Mike rebuilt his resume, self-esteem and health. This gave him the confidence needed to apply and land a job at furniture retailer Lovesac to help them build their brand and social media. It was at Lovesac where he met Logan Paul and the rest is history.
